Thames Valley Police described the crash as 'serious' but South Central Ambulance Service has now confirmed that none of the injuries sustained are thought to be life-threatening.
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said three patients were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, but there was no further information available about the nature of their injuries.
An ambulance crew happened to come across the collision at about 2.40pm, and radioed the control room to call for back-up.
Paramedics reported that the collision was between two cars, although witnesses on social media reported as many as four being involved.

Another ambulance and rapid response vehicle were sent to the scene, and police also attended.
The road was closed northbound between the Milton and Marcham interchanges, until reopening at about 5pm.
One woman commented on a Thames Valley Police Facebook post about the collision, and said her mother had been involved.
She said the crash was caused by a 'mechanical failure' and not speed or mobile phone use as some people had assumed.
