TRAVELLERS have moved into the car park at the Kassam Stadium after being kicked out of a park-and-ride site.

An Oxford Mail reader said they could caravans parked at the east end of the car park this evening.

The Oxford Mail saw about 5 caravans alongside vans, and also spotted at least one pony on the site.

It is the same location taken over by a group of travellers in February this year before they were moved on by police.

The reader who contacted the Mail also said he thought the new group must have forced entry through a barrier which was put up to stop travellers getting in.

It is thought this group are the same group who took over Pear Tree park and ride on Tuesday this week.

Oxford City Council, which owns that site, immediately launched legal action to evict them and neighbours have reported seeing that group leaving the car park today.

It is the latest in a string of occupations of various council-owned car parks and large public sites over the past year.

Oxford United are due to play their next home game at the Kassam, against Rochdale, on Tuesday night.
