The uncle of a ten-year-old boy, who died in October, has completed the first of his five challenges he pledged to do.

Ross Coniam, of Norbury Avenue, Watford, took part in the London Marathon on Sunday to raise money for the hospice that supported his nephew, Kieran Coniam.

Kieran suffered from numerous health problems including cerebral palsy, epilepsy and "global development delay" syndrome.

In 2014 he caught pneumonia twice and was also diagnosed with Pseudomonas - a bacteria which effects the lungs. But due to Kieran's weak immune system, he could not fight the bacteria.

Mr Coniam will raising money for the Keech Hospice Care in Luton.

On Sunday, he completed the first of the five challenges in 4hr 26min and so far has raised £3,265 for the hospice.

The 32-year-old said: "It was quite inspiring and enjoyable, but tough - I really struggled the last five miles. And it was great to have my family there supporting me.

Other challenges Mr Coniam plans to do include a 100km walk and row, the Three Peaks challenge and a sky dive.
