SCOTLAND boss George Burley today handed home-town team Cumnock the Citylink Scottish Cup quarter-final tie they didn't want!

Yes, Nock will host arch-rivals Auchinleck Talbot on Saturday, March 15, in a game which is undoubtedly worthy of the Cup Final itself and which will draw a huge crowd.

Having already plucked six names out of the bag, fortune favoured Burley when Cumnock's name preceded that of Auchinleck. Scottish Citylink Quarter-final draw:

Lanark v Pollok

Thornton v Glenafton

Bathgate v Clydebank

Cumnock v Auchinleck Ties 15 March, 2.30pm

Nock's fortunes have been on the ascendancy under Campbell Money, but a real tester awaits against the record seven- times winners of the Holy Grail silverware.

Bookmakers' favourites Pollok landed yet another away tie with a trip to meet Lanark United, who have acquired a reputation as giant-killers on account of taking a number of big-name scalps in recent seasons.

Moor Park gaffer Tony McInally said: "One of our club officials reckons we have beaten 20 Super League sides over the past three or four years."

Another strong West Region tip for cup glory, Glenafton, will not be unhappy at the prospect of a trip to Fife to face Thornton Hibs and neither are Clydebank bemoaning their luck after being drawn away to 2006 beaten finalists Bathgate Thistle.

Tom Wileman, managing director of Scottish Citylink, said: "We are delighted to be sponsoring the tournament again this year. Today's draw promises some mouth-watering ties."

Meanwhile, new Scotland boss Keith Burgess has named his first squad ahead of the Umbro Quadrangular Tournament in the Isle of Man.

Budgie has picked 22 players who will meet at Newlandsfield Park this Sunday for a get-together and training session ahead of facing Alloa in a Recreation Park friendly a week tonight (7.30pm).

Only seven retain their places from the Scotland side that lost out 1-0 to the Republic of Ireland back in September, but there are cap recalls for players who have featured in previous squads such as Roberto Morris (Tayport), Joe Mbu (Whitburn), Brian McKeown (Pollok), Tom Courts (Kelty Hearts) and Stevie Swift (Irvine Meadow).

Pollok supply four players but otherwise the only participation from teams in the last eight is limited to Cumnock striker Richie Barr, Bryan Slavin of Auchinleck and former Airdrie captain Stevie Docherty, currently with Bathgate.

Inspirational midfielder Slavin is one of those reckoned to be in with a chance of skippering the Scots. However, the like-lihood is Burgess will opt for experienced defensive stalwart Morris, who was club captain under him when he steered Tayport to their Scottish Junior Cup triumph in 2005.

The Scotland chief said: "I wanted to get a mix of tried and trusted players at this level and, at the same time, try to bring in a few guys who I feel are capable of making the step up if given the chance.

"Gary Middleton is one that comes into this bracket."
