GLASGOW motorists who use a mobile while driving were today being targeted by the police as part of a nationwide crackdown.
The 24-hour blitz comes exactly 12 months after menace motorists were named and shamed by the Evening Times as part of our Get Glasgow Moving campaign.
Police patrols today monitored city streets, while posters and leaflets were distributed across Glasgow.
Tougher penalties were introduced a year ago, with maximum court sentences of £1000 fines and disqualification. But Superintendent Pat Docherty, Head of Strathclyde's Road Policing, said: "Despite the revised penalties, too many drivers are putting themselves and others in danger by using a hand-held mobile."
