Children, parents and staff of two primary schools switched their cars for bikes and scooters for the school run as part of a national competition.
Parents and staff at Singlegate Primary School in Colliers Wood and William Morris Primary School in Mitcham were encouraged to leave their cars at home and join in the Big Pedal Competition 2013 run by environmental charity Sustrans between February 28 and March 20.
Mrs Bull, executive headteacher said: "The children really enjoy getting their bikes and scooters out and it’s a great way to get families involved in the fun too.
"It’s a fantastic way for us as a school to encourage healthy travel and show families how fun and easy the journey to school can be."
Schools who had recorded the most 'saved' miles were rewarded with prizes.
Out of the 119 schools which took part this year, William Morris Primary School finished 8th and Singlegate Primary School finished 10th in the regional rankings.
