A man who is to face trial accused of raping a child and a woman has been released on bail.

George Donaldson is also said to have carried out further abuse on the young girl when he was living in the Bowerhill area of Melksham.

The 50-year-old, now of Hayes, Middlesex, pleaded not guilty to rape, rape of a child, indecent assault and indecency with a child when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court on Friday.

One of the rape charges alleges that between the start of 2005 and the end of 2008 he carried out the sex attack on an adult woman.

The other matters are said to have taken place on a girl, who was then under the age of 16, between the start of 1998 and January 2003.

Judge Douglas Field adjourned the case to Monday, July 22 when he is to face trial by judge and jury and released him on conditional bail.
