COCKER spaniel Poppy stole the top prize as hundreds of animal lovers flocked to the 2015 Family Fun Dog Show.

The show at Leverhulme Park raised more than £1,000 for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, organisers said.

Record numbers attended the show on Sunday, with 169 dogs entered into the seven classes on offer.

Market stalls, a play zone, a laser quest dome and food and drink stalls were on offer to visitors.

Best in Show was won by eight-year-old Poppy, owned by Sarah Brookes, from Bolton.

The other six classes were most handsome male, prettiest female, cutest puppy, waggiest tail, dog the judge would most like to take home — which attracted 113 entrants — and musical mats, a canine version of musical chairs.

The final tally of money raised was £1420.85

Bolton branch chair Tracy Davies said: "We had a fantastic day, the turnout was absolutely amazing.

"We have raised a lot of money for a wonderful charity.

"Thanks to everyone who turned out and to our judges and volunteers."
