The Summerlee Heritage Park offers visitors a huge

all-weather exhibition hall, Scotland's only working electric tramway and a recreated underground mine with miners' row.

Formerly an industrial crane shed, it is home to displays of working machinery from local industries, and a variety of olden days furnishings including the dock from the former High Court of Glasgow. The park offers visitors a step back in time to the cramped living and working conditions of a miners' town in the 1860s, then the relative comforts of the 1960s. A huge model of the former Summerlee Ironworks gives a flavour of the smelting work that was once done.
