Malindi

A GERMAN tourist fatally stabbed a Swiss citizen in the chest and wounded two British women before committing suicide at a Kenyan resort.

Josec Nacio, acting police commander, said the German had stabbed the British women on Saturday night at a beachfront hotel in the coastal town of Malindi and killed the Swiss when he tried to restrain him.

Nacio said the German fled to the beach before running back into the hotel and locking himself in a storeroom, where he slashed his throat and stabbed himself in the stomach.

"While inside the store, the German tourist started crying before his cries were reduced to groaning - and because the store was dark the police decided to force their way in and found him in a pool of blood but still stabbing himself in the stomach, "Nacio said.

The British women were in stable condition in a hospital in Mombasa, he said. The victims' names were withheld until relatives were informed. -AP
