More body parts from a murder victim whose remains have been scattered across the English countryside have reportedly been discovered.

Reports said "part of a torso" had been found but Hertfordshire Police were not able to comment on the claim.

A police spokeswoman said an area in Standon village, in the east of the county, had been closed after a call from a member of the public on Saturday evening.

However, she added that it was too early to say what had been found but it was likely it would be linked to the murder investigation.

The murder inquiry was launched after a left leg and foot was found in a holdall in a lay-by on the A507 in Cottered, Hertfordshire, on March 22.

On March 29, an arm, dismembered at the elbow and wrist, was discovered on a grass verge in Wheathampstead, a 40-minute drive from Cottered.

Two days later, in Asfordby, Leicestershire - 95 miles by road from Wheathampstead - a head was discovered by a farmer on his land.

Post-mortem examinations confirmed that the head, arm and leg all came from the same man.

Police have said since it was "highly likely" a right leg found near the A10 Puckeridge bypass in Hertfordshire on April 7 came from the victim.

The assembly of body parts has given a picture of a man who suffered with ill health before his death.

He had eczema, which caused his skin to "scale". Discolouration in his skin pigmentation around the ankle also gave a "bleaching" effect.

Two front teeth had been missing from his mouth "for several years".

A full DNA profile has been obtained from the post-mortem examination but detectives are yet to trace the victim on the missing persons register.

The man was white or Asian and between 5ft 6in and 5ft 10in. His shoe size is believed to be between seven and nine.

The Hertfordshire Police spokeswoman said detec- tives from the Bedford- shire and Hertfordshire major crime unit and detectives in Leicestershire had been informed of the new find.

"At this stage it is too early to say what has been recovered, or to confirm whether it is linked to the ongoing murder investigation," she said.

"What has been found has been there for some time, and there is a likeli- hood it will be linked to the murder investigation."
