THREE shinty players and their driver were taken to hospital on

Saturday after their car was in collision with an ambulance on the A815

three miles north of Strachur, Argyll. The players are all members of

the second team of Kyles Athletic, based at Tighnabruaich, and were on

their way to a match with Glenorchy when the accident happened shortly

after midday.

The driver, Tommy Nicholson, 52, was taken to Vale of Leven hospital,

Alexandria, and detained with multiple injuries. His condition yesterday

was described as stable. Also detained was goalkeeper George MacRae, 15,

who was later transferred to the Western Infirmary, Glasgow, with leg

injuries. The other players, Gregory Burns, 16, and Sean Mobek, 23, were

allowed home after treatment.
