THE Blagdon Indian, which has closed after just two years in business, is set to re-open as a traditional British pub this week.
Formerly The Blagdon Inn, the business was taken over by Shawkat Shamim and his team in 2011, but was put on the market last month by pub company Punch Taverns, which reported a £30.2million loss in half yearly pre-tax profits last week.
A spokesman said the pub will re-open under its original name, The White Lion on Wednesday (April 24) and added: “We regularly review our estate and may explore other options around the future of our less sustainable sites, or where they might better fulfil their potential for the local community under different ownership.
“Following a recent review, a decision has been made to place the pub on the open market for sale.”
