STEAM trains have given Severn Valley Railway a milestone to celebrate after clocking up more than two million miles.
The 16-mile line from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth has become a Mecca for steam buffs and tourists since enthusiasts revived the route in 1970.
The two-million milestone was actually passed in December but railway chiefs only discovered it this month after totting up the annual mileage figure for each locomotive.
The total number of miles covered by SVR engines, as at December 31, was 2,006,964 - the equivalent to going to the moon and back four times.
