The estranged wife of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood has said she has been bowled over by support from the public after her marriage broke down.

Jo Wood said she was "full of appreciation" for the words of comfort she had received after her husband of 30 years left her.

Mr Wood began seeing a 19-year-old Russian cocktail waitress in July, before checking into rehab.

Mrs Wood, 53, said: "I have had so much support from family and friends and people I do not even know and that has been so nice.

"I really appreciate people's kindness."

The mother-of-four and former model was speaking ahead of her visit to organic store Pure Me in Faringdon in 10 days.

Mrs Wood, who will talk about her own range of organic skincare products at the shop, said: "I have only been to Oxfordshire once before, to go to Raymond Blanc's restaurant, Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons, but I thought it was a beautiful county and I am really looking forward to seeing more of it."

Mrs Wood has written a range of books about leading a healthy lifestyle, and only eats organic foods. She said: "I only discovered the benefits of eating organic food after learning I was suffering from a perforated appendix.

"When I first went organic, some people thought I was a hippy and people including (Stones bandmate) Keith Richards even made fun of me.

"But I introduced his wife to it and now even he is eating organic. I like to think organic is the new rock 'n' roll."

Mrs Wood said she had decided to come to Faringdon after being impressed by the story of Pure Me owner Miranda Boscawen, who has suffered from leukaemia.

Ms Boscawen, who is in remission, said: "It is very exciting having Jo Wood bringing her rock and roll glamour to Faringdon."

Jo Wood will appear at Pure Me, 6a London Street, Faringdon, on Thursday, September 18, from 6-8pm.

The event is by invitation only but invites are free and available to all by request by phoning Pure Me on 01367 244558.
