VICTORIAN toilets on Rothesay pier are to receive a heritage award

today. Strathclyde Building Preservation Trust is being honoured for its

work in restoring the toilet block, which was originally built in 1899

by Twyfords. More than #305,000 was spent last year to save the Grade A

listed building. It was described as the ''Jewel in the Sanatorian's

Crown'' by author Lucinda Lambton in her book Temples of Convenience.

Miss Lambton performed the opening ceremony in April.
