Hakin United have regained the division one title following a strong second half display against Narberth at Jesse Road last night (Tuesday).

The Vikings went in 0-0 at half time, but took control after the break to run out 1-3 winners. News of Johnston’s draw against Pennar then filtered through to confirm Gary Dawes' men as champions.

There is still an outside possibility Hakin will be punished by the West Wales Football Association for an incident from their game with Tish earlier this month.

But even if they are deducted the mandatory point, they cannot be caught at the top.

Against Narberth, Dawes’ men should have been ahead in a lively start when Ashley Bevan was denied from close range by home keeper John Durbridge.

James Stanmore then had shot blocked before the Bluebirds went close when Kyle Quartermaine’s effort was cleared off the line by Ewan Findlay.

Stanmore then went clean through but shot straight at Durbridge, before Hakin keeper Hartley saved well from Jordan Williams.

The first half ended goalless but Justin Harding broke the deadlock eight minutes into the second half.

The striker latched on to a Steve Mathias through ball and finished deftly.

But three minutes later Narberth were level when Justin Blewitt hammered home a shot after a Morgan Preece corner.

But Dawes’ men didn’t have to wait long to be in front again.

Matthew Broome’s cross from the right evaded everyone and found the far corner.

Stanmore should have made the game safe when he was again denied by Durbridge - but then the forward did get his goal.

He finished well from a tight angle to make it 1-3.

The home side pressed late on but the Vikings held firm, and were able to celebrate the title they last won in 2010/2011.
