PARAMEDIC accused of a string of professional blunders could be struck off.

It is alleged that Robin Woosey, an Essex-based paramedic made a series of errors dealing with six patients between June 2009 and October 2011.

A Health and Care Professions Council conduct and competence committee is due to take place from today until Thursday.

The hearing will hear claims that Mr Woosey, in his 50s from Tudwick Road, Maldon, did not realise the time critical condition of a woman he attended to on September 15 2009 and tried to delay taking her to hospital.

It will hear he had to be told three times to give fluids to the woman and was unjable to obtain a correct blood pressure reading from her.

Other allegations involve a patient with an ache in the right lung on April 2 2010 when it is alleged he gave a patient 30mg instead of the recommended 50mg of the drug Frusemide used to treat heart conditions.

On June 22 2010 Mr Woosey is said to have altered a patient care report after handing in the top copy and while dealing with another patient the same day it is alleged he filled out the report incorrectly.

Allegations also centre around the treatment of two patients six days later on June 28.

In one case he is accused of wrongly diagnososing a patient as vomitting blood and then writing in the report he carried out three observations when he only did two.

In the case of another patent it is alleged he did not carry out an initial asesment and then incorrectly completed the report.

If found guilty, Mr Woosey, who no longer works for the East of England Ambulance Trust, could be struck off from practicing or receive other sanctions, including suspension, a warning or training.
