A PROJECT to reduce the risk of vulnerable patients falling has been launched at Rowley Regis Hospital.
The 24-bedded Henderson Re-ablement Unit has being kitted out with alarms that alert staff when high risk patients are trying to move from their chair or bed without assistance.
Jake Winup, occupational therapist, said: ”As a result of the pilot the unit has reported a significant reduction in patient falls. The whole team welcomed the new system as it has made a big difference to how we can safely care for our patients.”
The success of the project has led to a similar one starting at Leasowes Intermediate Care Centre.
