A 22-YEAR-OLD woman who was slapped with an injunction over noisy behaviour breached it twice within a month.

Jade Kelly was given the antisocial behaviour injunction on June 19 after more than a year of complaints from neighbours.

But the Alma Road resident admitted twice breaching conditions that banned two of her friends from visiting her flat. Kelly first breached the injunction on Saturday, July 7, and was held in custody and released four days later after two court hearings.

But she again breached the order on Saturday, July 14, and was arrested and placed in custody until last Friday’s hearing at Oxford County Court. Cherwell District Council said it got the injunction, with police and landlord Bromford Housing, after “more than a year of problem behaviour which has escalated in recent months”.

Pc Sharon Harris said: “A number of residents had complained about prolonged antisocial behaviour, parties and general nuisance issues coming from the property in Alma Road.”

She urged people with any antisocial behaviour concerns to contact the force on 101 and pledged officers “will act proactively to resolve disputes”.

Council lead member for public protection Tony Ilott said: “We are determined to help people deal with this kind of nuisance in their communities. “The majority of people want to get on with their lives in a reasonable way and this asinine behaviour should not and will not be tolerated.”

Bromford community safety manager Kate Giles said: “It was thanks to the resolve of local residents on Alma Road, who were all willing to give evidence, that we managed to secure an injunction with power of arrest.”

A resident, who did not want to be named, said: “There have been parties, it has been very noisy at night and sometimes during the day. “It is unfair to people who want to have the quiet enjoyment of their homes.”

But Kelly said: “They should put young people with young people and old people with old people. They live different lifestyles to me. “Whereas I wake up with music, they probably wake up with a book.”

She said she did not consider the noise to be disturbing, adding: “Why am I not to have friends in?” The June order banned her from engaging or threatening to engage in conduct deemed a “nuisance or annoyance” in Alma Road. She must also not use “abusive or threatening language” in the road; play her TV or music so it can be heard there, or contact two named residents.

A ban on visits from Ryan Kane and Myles Oxlade has been amended. Mr Oxlade can now visit from 5pm to midnight on Saturdays.
