THE final stage act for Banbury’s Christmas lights switch- on has been revealed.

The Great British Barbershop Boys will take to the stage just after 2pm and perform four songs from their debut album, which is due to be released next month.

The quartet will join band The Soldiers, a Michael Jackson tribute act and performances by local bands the Screamin’ Abdabs and The Caper. Coronation Street’s Rosie Webster, actress Helen Flanagan, will press the all-important button and switch on the lights. Father Christmas will also put in an appearance and there will be a children’s fair.

Christmas lights are already being put up by Cherwell District Council ready for Sunday, November 28.

Banbury town councillor, Tina Wren, chairman of the organising committee, said: “We are thrilled with the final line-up for the three-hour show. This is definitely our best switch-on to date.”

The Great British Barbershop Boys, is made up of Alan Hughes (tenor), Zac Booles (lead), Joe Knight (baritone) and Duncan Blackeby (bass), who were originally members of the National Barbershop Youth Chorus. They decided to branch out and within nine months they became British Quartet champions.

The event is funded by Banbury Town Council and businesses, and supported by the Banbury Cake.
