POLICE believe two burglaries, in which thieves walked through front doors of homes in Banbury, may be linked.

In the first raid, a flat in St John's House, St John's Road, Banbury, was burgled, between 11.30pm on Thursday, July 6, and 5.30pm on Friday, July 7. A PlayStation Two was stolen with some games.

The next burglary was between 1pm and 7.20pm on Friday, July 7, when a laptop was stolen.

Police spokesman Kate Smith said: "These were both multi-occupancy dwellings where people have tried their luck in getting in through the front door. Police believe they may be linked."

PC Helen Wright, of Banbury police, said: "If anyone saw anything suspicious then please contact me.

"Make sure that your doors and windows are secure, even if you are at home, make sure no car keys or other valuables are on show and take some time to ensure your home is secure.

"Opportunist thieves will take advantage of open doors and windows, even in broad daylight.

"If you live in flats or a multi-occupancy home make sure your door is locked, even if there is a communal door to the outside."
