POLICE investigating a death crash near Deddington last Thursday, have carried out a road check close to the accident site.

A woman described as an "exceptional doctor" was killed when her Citron and a blue Vauxhall Nova collided.

Police were in Deddington village asking drivers if they saw the crash or either of the vehicles before the incident, which happened at about 8.30am.

The dead woman has been named as Dr Margaret Davidson, 26, who recently started her first job as a doctor at the Horton Hospital, Banbury.

Paying tribute, Trevor Campbell Davis, chief executive of the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust, said Dr Davidson was "an exceptional doctor who had an extremely promising future".

Dr Davidson was the only daughter of Elizabeth and Joe Davidson, from Hamilton, Scotland, and graduated in medicine last year from Green College, Oxford.

Dr Davidson's partner, Peter Terrington, joined her parents at their Hamilton home, along with family and friends.

Family friend Douglas Muir said: "The community is devastated at the tragic death of Dr Davidson, who was relishing the start of her vocation as a doctor, and her life ahead with Mr Terrington."

After the crash, on the A4260 between Hopcrofts Halt and Deddington, three people in the Nova were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and released on police bail until July 3.
