FIRE service information is now just the click of a mouse away, with the launch of the Fire Gateway website.
The "one-stop shop", supported by Oxfordshire County Council's Fire and Rescue Service, lets residents submit questions on-line and provides them with information to prevent fires.
The service is not intended for requests for emergency services, which should still be made by dialling 999 and asking for fire.
But users can:
- Make an on-line request for a free home fire safety visit
- Submit on-line requests for the fire and rescue service to attend school and community events
- Request fire safety advice where there are concerns about people starting deliberate fires.
- Complete an on-line business self-assessment form to check progress in complying with new fire safety regulations in the workplace.
Chief Fire Officer John Parry said: "The Fire Gateway will be a valuable tool for helping us communicate more effectively and to be even more accessible to our local communities. A huge proportion of the work of modern Fire and Rescue Services is about prevention.
The new website is at www.fire.gov.uk.
