MUM Jane McCaffery celebrated Christmas in a new home after more than three years on the housing waiting list.

Jane, 36, a nurse, says that moving into Oxford Citizens Housing Association's new development in Marshall Road, Banbury, was a dream come true.

She said: "I put my name on Cherwell District Council's waiting list as soon as my daughter Jazmia was born - and to finally have a home for the two of us is wonderful.

"Jazmia has never had her own bedroom before and was so excited."

The new development consists of 46 one- and two-bedroom apartments close to Banbury town centre.

Oxford Citizens' chief executive Jonathan Higgs said: "This is new, affordable housing at its best.

"It offers rented homes to local families on the council's waiting list, affordable home ownership properties to people keen to take their first step on the property ladder, and specialist flats to accommodate wheelchair users."

Debbie Pickford, Cherwell District Council's executive member for housing, said: "Affordable housing has always been a priority for this council."
