A SMARTER clubhouse has been called for by members of Hook Norton Sports and Social Club.

A recent survey revealed that more people would support fundraising events if conditions were better.

Questionnaires were sent to the club's 400 members and half of those who responded said more fundraising activities should be organised, with 43 per cent wanting an up-dated pavilion.

Money-raising suggestions included car boot sales, a Christmas Bazaar, an auction of promises, a fun day, live music and discos, race nights, and quiz nights.

Most members indicated that a car boot sale would be the best option.

The club comprises of cricketers, footballers, tennis players, athletes, and social members.

The survey indicated that a majority of members thought a more modern pavilion would increase support at club events.

Over 40 per cent of people said they would be more likely to support activities if the clubhouse was smarter, and 26 per cent said they would be a little more likely to get involved.

A marketing and events group has been set up to organise the club's social calendar.

HNSSC's secretary Geoff James said: "It was fantastic to see the sections of the club working together."
