HUNDREDS of trees and shrubs have been planted as a council has decided to go green and improve the environment.
Banbury Town Council has planted Acer Freemanii Autumn Blaze trees at Spiceball Park to celebrate National Tree Week.
They have already planted around 280 plants and shrubs as part of a ceremony.
Nicholson Nurseries, of North Aston, supplied the trees costing nearly £1,000 and the council's contractors Continental Landscapes have now refurbished parts of Spiceball Park.
Banbury Mayor John Donaldson said: "We wanted to so something during National Tree Week and we decided to select trees that would enhance the wonderful treescape that Spiceball Park already has.
"We chose trees that are slightly larger than the normal so that they will have an immediate impact."
The trees have been planted at one of the entrances to the park and turn into a rich crimson during the autumn.
