Winger James Monks bagged a brace of tries as Witney opened up with an emphatic 34-3 win over Olney in South West 1 East at Hailey Road.

Witney fell behind to an Olney penalty, before Monks touched down for the first time, with Ed Mitcham adding the conversion.

Henry Lamb grabbed Witney’s second try, with Mitcham again adding the extra points.

Carl Strutt and Monks then combined to set up Tim Muller for try No 3, Mitcham converting once more.

After the break, Witney’s Richard Haire and an Olney prop were sin-binned following a skirmish.

A Mitcham penalty made it 24-3, before Monks crossed for his second try.

Max Winpenny sealed the victory with Witney’s fifth try.
