OXFORD Harlequins’ home campaign ended in defeat as they were beaten 50-19 by Barnstaple in National League 3 South West.
Relegated Quins battled bravely, but remain second bottom in the league table with one game remaining.
Jordan Petheridge’s penalty gave the visitors a 3-0 lead on 13 minutes, before Winston James crossed.
Petheridge converted for 10-0.
Quins fell further behind when James scored his second try and Petheridge added the extras.
The home side responded with Will Sharratt crossing.

Fly half Huw Dimond was successful from the boot.
However, their revival was short-lived as Barnstaple were awarded a penalty try, which Petheridge converted.
Full back Will Topps went over before the break for a 29-7 lead.
In the second half, Topps scored his second. Petheridge added the extras.
Quins continued to battle and were rewarded when Henry Veikune and Tom Tierney crossed the whitewash.
Dimond backed up the latter score.
However, two late converted tries from Shane Paddock and James saw Barnstaple reach 50 points.
