A LATE bogey scuppered Eddie Pepperell’s chances of reaching the weekend at the Catalunya Championship.

The Abingdon golfer missed out by one shot after failing to make par on the eighth hole of his second round, after starting from the tenth.

Pepperell began day one with successive birdies, but bogeys at the seventh and eighth saw him fall back.

Dropped shots at the 13th and 17th sandwiched a birdie at the 15th as he carded a one-over par 73.

A double bogey at the 11th was a bad start to his second round and birdies at the 15th and 16th were followed by bogeys at the next two holes.

A dropped shot at the first was followed by birdies at the fifth and seventh, before the fateful bogey at the eighth.
