CHERYL Williams equalised deep in stoppage-time as Oxford United Women shared a six-goal thriller with Southampton Women.

The substitute had only been on the pitch seven minutes when she stepped up to plant a 95th-minute free-kick into the net.

It earned the U’s a 3-3 draw against the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier champions.

Southampton went ahead after 15 minutes, but United hit back moments later as Beth Lumsden equalised from the penalty spot after a foul on Sophie Baker.

Merrick Will’s second goal in two games put the U’s in front on the half-hour mark and they looked on course for an impressive three points.

But Southampton turned the tables with two goals in the final 15 minutes, before Williams rescued a point.

The U’s are a point behind second-placed Ipswich Town Women going into Sunday’s end of season trip to Gillingham.
