OXFORD City Stars take on the champions this weekend after ending the regular season with a 17-goal thriller.
Shane Moore’s side were edged out 9-8 in overtime at Solent Devils, despite going ahead in the final minute of the third period – only for the hosts to hit back and make it 8-8.
Joe Edwards bagged a hat-trick in a roller coaster encounter, with Dan Williams, Aidan McGurk, Jakub Klima, Dax Hedges and Tom Ravenscroft also on target.
Stars have two more massive games this weekend, when they take on NIHL Division 1 South champions Streatham in a two-legged play-off quarter-final.
Moore’s men finished eighth in the table and host the capital club on Saturday, with face-off at 6.15pm. The return fixture is in London on Sunday.
The winners advance to the final four weekend in Milton Keynes.
