OXFORD United Women signed off in style at Court Place Farm as they concluded a near-perfect home season with a 9-0 demolition of Keynsham Town.

Beth Lumsden and Carly Johns helped themselves to hat-tricks in a dominant display from the U’s, with Lily Stevens, Daisy McLachlan and Cheryl Williams completing the scoring.

It was United’s 12th win out of 13 at home in FA Women’s National League Southern Premier this season, the only draw coming against Southampton last month.

The Saints, who have a game in hand, maintained their three-point lead over the U’s with a 2-1 win at leaders Ipswich Town, who are a further point ahead and have played one more match.

United were in control from the off and wrapped up victory well before they went in 5-0 up at half-time.

Johns opened the floodgates with a low finish after 11 minutes and Stevens quickly doubled the lead, dispatching Hannah McKenzie’s knock-down from a corner.

It was all over midway through the half when Lumsden went over in the penalty area, before sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to make it 20 for the season in Southern Premier.

McLachlan grabbed the fourth with just 26 minutes played as she beat the offside trap, took the ball around the Keynsham stopper and finished calmly.

Four different players had put United 4-0 up, but a familiar face scored their fifth as Johns fired low into the net late in the half.

The U’s did not let up and Lumsden added her second and third goals in the first 15 minutes of the second period, racing through the tiring Keynsham defence and burying a finish on both occasions.

United’s top-scorer could have had another in the closing stages, but selflessly squared the ball to Johns to make it two hat-tricks for the hosts.

Cheryl Williams bagged the hosts’ ninth goal of the afternoon when she dispatched Megan Alexander’s cross and only a good save stopped McLachlan adding a tenth.
