OXFORD City Stars beat MK Thunder 7-2 to claim their biggest win of the season in their first game under Shane Moore.

The club’s head of hockey operations is in charge until the end of the campaign following Dean Birrell’s departure last week.

Moore’s first match was against the only team between Stars and the foot of NIHL Division 1 South and they stormed to victory.

Josh Florey scored twice, while Matt Lawday, Dax Hedges, Josh Oliver, Griff Eden-Parish and Joe Edwards were also on target at Oxpens.

Moore (right) said: “I’m really pleased with how the club, fans and especially the players responded to a turbulent week.

“I put together a game plan and the boys followed it well. It was great to see them all playing with smiles on their faces and enjoying themselves.

“This was a crucial game for us and a fresh start for what will be a tough run for the remainder of the season.

“It’s a real positive start for me personally and a great foundation for us to build on.”
