OXFORD City bounced back from their midweek defeat at Dorking Wanderers with an excellent 3-0 win at Hampton & Richmond Borough, WRITES GEORGE RICKWOOD.

Goals from Elliot Benyon, Joe Iaciofano and Harvey Bradbury sealed victory to put the visitors third in Vanarama National League South, seven points off the summit.

The visitors started well, with Benyon heading a beautiful George Harmon cross narrowly wide.

Former City and Oxford United star James Roberts was facing his former club for the second Saturday running, having joined Hampton & Richmond from Havant & Waterlooville in the week.

He did not take long to make an impact, firing just over the bar from around 15 yards.

Jack McKnight rattled the woodwork with a header shortly before the break, but both teams went in goalless.

City opened the scoring seven minutes into the second period after Josh Ashby’s speculative effort from a free-kick fell to Benyon, who turned smartly before finishing well.

The visitors looked to double the lead and Harmon was tripped in the box, with Iaciofano a picture of calm as he stroked the ball into the bottom right corner.

The hosts won a penalty of their own after Harvey Bradbury, defending a corner having just been substituted on, fouled his man.

Ben Dudzinski produced an incredible double save, guessing the right way and then smothering the rebound.

The home crowd was silenced and City reasserted themselves, with Bradbury having an opportunity to seal it as he attempted to poke past Alan Julian - only for the goalkeeper to just about hold on at close range.

The striker atoned for the foul deep in stoppage time, beating the onrushing stopper to make it 3-0.

Banbury United were held to a 1-1 home draw by Bromsgrove Sporting in Pitching In Southern League Premier Central, WRITES FRASER DAY.

Jay Williams’s fifth-minute opener was cancelled out midway through the second half.

Despite back-to-back draws, the Puritans remain 14 points clear at the top of the table.

In Division 1 Central, Dan West’s double and Ryan Blake’s strike sealed victory for Thame United against Kidlington before the break.
