OXFORD City lost their first match under temporary managers Andy Ballard and Ross Jenkins as top of the table Dorking Wanderers ran out 1-0 winners, WRITES GEORGE RICKWOOD.

Darren Oldaker scored the only goal despite a spirited display by the visitors, but the defeat leaves them fourth in Vanarama National League South.

Dorking were straight on the front foot with an early effort from James McShane forcing an excellent diving save from Ben Dudzinski.

The ball nestled in the net from the resulting corner, but the linesman raised his flag for offside.

Efforts from Matt Briggs and Niall McManus did not trouble Dudzinski, however, Oldaker’s free-kick from all of 30 yards managed to squeeze past him and give the hosts the lead.

Dudzinski soon made a fine save from McShane’s long-distance effort, tipping round for a corner.

Elliot Benyon had City’s best chance of the first period just before the break when he was played through, but an excellent challenge from Ed Harris kept him from getting his shot off.

The visitors struck the post on the hour mark as George Harmon fired across goal, only for the ball to cannon off the woodwork.

City sent a few balls across the box late on, but ultimately Dorking ran out deserved winners.

Elsewhere, Banbury United got back on track in Pitching In Southern League Premier Central with a 4-0 win over Biggleswade Town.

The Puritans were without a win in two matches, but cruised to victory to stretch their lead at the summit to 16 points.

Ben Acquaye and Morgan Roberts scored in the first half, before Chris Wreh and Giorgio Rasulo completed the rout.
