OXFORD United Women’s National League Cup adventure continued with a 2-0 home win over Billericay Town.
After seeing off AFC Wimbledon, Swindon Town and Bridgwater United in the first three rounds, goals from Gemma Sims and Rachel Panting gave the U’s another victory in the competition.
They have now won all eight matches they have played at Court Place Farm this season, ending Billericay’s 16-game unbeaten run in the process.
The FA Women’s National League Division One South East leaders were awarded a penalty inside three minutes, but Logan O’Shea missed the target from the spot.
Beth Lumsden went close soon after, before United took the lead.
Captain Lauren Haynes sent a seventh-minute corner towards the far post and Sims was there to nod past Alex Baker.
O’Shea hit the crossbar with a shot from distance early in the second half and the U’s took note of the warning.
They quickly doubled their lead, Lumsden crossing from the byline for Panting to dispatch from close range.
The goalscorer shot wide moments later as the chances continued, with Daisy Ackerman unable to work Baker from a good position.
Billericay kept going and prolific striker Zoe Rushden almost grabbed a late consolation, hitting the post from long range.
