CANICE Carroll and George Harmon made their debuts as Oxford City lost 1-0 at Brackley Town in their final pre-season friendly.
The duo were among five summer arrivals and a trialist in David Oldfield’s starting XI against the Vanarama National League North side.
Brackley went closest in the first half, with Gaz Dean and Shepherd Murombedzi missing the target.
Ben Dudzinski brilliantly thwarted Lee Ndlovu at point-blank range nine minutes after the break, before Canice Carroll saw a half-volley saved.
Ndlovu eventually beat Dudzinski 18 minutes from time, though, as his cross-shot looped over the goalkeeper.
City visit Braintree Town in their Vanarama National League South opener next Saturday.
