Oxford United have taken back Marvin Robinson from his loan spell at Cambridge following his serious car crash last weekend, writes JON MURRAY.
The 27-year-old striker suffered a broken leg and bruised lungs, although it's understood initial fears about that he may have sustained spinal injuries proved unfounded.
Robinson was at the Abbey Stadium on a three-month loan, but Oxford have now taken him back, enabling Cambridge to go out and sign another loan player.
U's secretary and general manager Mick Brown said: "We felt it was morally the right thing to do. He never got injured playing football and it was no fault of Cambridge's.
"I know people might say it was no fault of ours either, but we just felt it was morally the right thing to do."
Robinson is unlikely to play again this season - certainly for at least six months - but the full extent of his injuries, and the circumstances of the crash, on the M6 near Rugby last Sunday, remain unclear.
