TARIQE Fosu is targeting another promotion after finally completing his move to Oxford Unitedyesterday.

The winger has become the U’s second senior summer signing, joining the Sky Bet League One club on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee from Charlton Athletic.

Fosu’s arrival comes as no surprise, with United linked with the 23-year-old throughout the summer and his former boss, Lee Bowyer, revealing last week he was set for a reunion with Karl Robinson, who managed him at the Valley.

He flew out with his new teammates for their pre-season training camp in Portugal and has already set his sights high after finally putting pen-to-paper.

“My aim is to get promoted,” said Fosu.

“I want to play as many games as I can, and create and score as many goals as I can to help the team.”

Fosu made 30 appearances last season as Charlton won promotion to the Championship via the play-offs.

The former Reading trainee was offered a new contract, but that was only done to ensure they received a fee.

His signing sees Robinson link up with a player he bought while Addicks manager in the summer of 2017.

And Fosu is looking forward to working with his former boss again.

The winger said: “I like the football he plays, he’s a very positive guy and backs me a lot.

“He knows me best, he knows I can do a job on the wing or just off the striker.

“Karl’s very calm and he has a good relationship with the players.

“I think he knows how to manage different players as well – that’s very important as a manager.

“I’ve always thought, because I was down the road at Reading as a young boy, Oxford were a good club, played good football and I’ve always liked them.”

The signing ends Robinson’s long pursuit of the winger, who scored 11 goals in 65 games for Charlton.

Having paid an undisclosed fee to sign Fosu from Reading two years ago, the U’s boss is excited to be reunited with the winger.

“He’s a fantastic player, he’s one of the better ones I’ve signed for a long time,” said Robinson.

“I’ve said previously about how talented he is and when he was fit he was unplayable.

“It’s now about him getting his mentality and his attitude right, and making sure he has a big year.”
