SCOTT Davies admitted going back to Oxford United yesterday was a

nerve-racking experience.

The 31-year-old is in the process of visiting every EFL club to speak with players about his experiences with gambling addiction.

While Davies, who made 40 appearances for the U’s between 2013 and 2014, estimates he lost £250,000, he has not placed a bet for almost four years.

United were the 69th out of 72 clubs he has visited, but having players in the audience who were ex-teammates added an extra dimension.

“Out of all the clubs, this was probably the most nervous I was about going back to,” he said.

“I was at Reading for a long time but I didn’t have much of a relationship there because I was always out on loan.

“Here there are probably eight or nine lads I played with, plus the staff.

“It’s a really welcoming club and one that will stay in mind for a long time, with it being my last professional club.

“I felt like a complete fraud the whole time I was here to be honest.”

He added: “I just want to help players out now that may be struggling with gambling. It’s an addiction not many people want to talk about.”
