ERICK Thohir is expected to attend an Oxford United game next month.

The former president of Inter Milan was appointed to the U’s board in November.

But he has so far been unable to visit, due to commitments running the presidential campaign of Joko Widodo.

Indonesia goes to the polls on April 17, after which United are hoping his availability will improve.

And owner Sumrith ‘Tiger’ Thanakarnjanasuth is planning to hold a board meeting before the final home game of the season, against Doncaster Rovers on April 27.

“Erick will come, probably the last home game of the season,” he said.

Despite not being there in person so far, Tiger stressed Thohir – who sold his 31 per cent stake in Inter Milan in January – had been an influence already, both financially and with advice.

The United chairman said: “We talk sometimes and he has a lot of plans for Oxford United that we’re going to put together.

“He’s invested money.

“He will be a good asset, a good consultant.

“He always makes good suggestions because he used to run a big club.”
