WYCOMBE Wanderers will be fresh for their trip to Oxford United after having last weekend off.

The Chairboys’ home game with Charlton Athletic was postponed due to the Addicks’ international call-ups.

And it has meant extra time spent preparing for the visit to the Kassam Stadium.

Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth told the Bucks Free Press: “The boys had Saturday and Sunday off and that’s it.

“They have been in the rest of the time and they have been working hard.

“It has given us a good week or so to prepare for Oxford.”

Opposite number Karl Robinson is not sure whether the break will be an advantage.

He said: “You don’t know where they’re going to be at physically.

“I think sometimes it’s hard to have a break.”

The sides are at opposite ends of the form table, with Wycombe on a nine-game winless run which has seen them slide towards the relegation zone.

Ainsworth said: “We embrace these tough tests and I will be making sure I tell the boys how tough this is going to be.

“There is no harm in reminding them that they have to be at their absolute best to get anything out of this game.”
