KARL Robinson has told his Oxford United players to move on quickly from their landmark success as they bid to finally climb away from trouble.

Saturday’s victory at Blackpool lifted the U’s out of the Sky Bet League One relegation zone.

The relief of finally earning three points on the road was evident at full-time as United’s boss and his players celebrated with their magnificent away following.

But Robinson is aware they must now refocus on the bigger picture as they prepare to host Scunthorpe United on Saturday.

His side are yet to win back-to-back league games this season and the U’s boss is determined to make sure the victory at Bloomfield Road is not a flash in the pan.

He said: “It certainly was a relief, we’re not going to hide behind that and say it wasn’t.

“But hopefully now we can kick on and be better for that.”

United headed into the fixture on a five-match winless run, bidding to avoid a third defeat in eight days.

The under-fire U’s boss was keen to avoid taking any personal credit for the win, but admitted backing from the club’s hierarchy in the build-up to the game did help.

Robinson added: “The support we had in the week from the board was incredible.

“It gives you tremendous heart and desire that you know you’re in a very good place.

“I’m also really thankful to the players.

“We’ve just got to stick together because it’s only one win.”

He added: “It’s nothing to do with me, I don’t take any plaudits.

“But I will take all the criticism I need to take and be a shield for this football club to be a powerhouse in this league and push up to the next one.

“You knew about my intentions when I walked in – it wasn’t to fight around the bottom levels of this division.

“It’s something that I have found very difficult for us to be where we are, but my family keep me going.

“I don’t mind being the fall guy or whatever people want to call me.

“But I will be forever open and honest – it is the players and fans that I care about.”
