Oxford United boss Jim Smith has told defender Luke Foster to improve his lifestyle if he wants to get back into the team.

The former Sheffield Wednesday trainee and Lincoln defender has not featured in United's squad for the last few games, and with the team unbeaten in seven matches, he looks a long way off from getting back.

There had been high hopes that the Mexborough-born player would have a significant part to play for the U's this season after he shone in his seven appearances last term following his February move from Stalybridge Celtic.

But Smith has not been impressed with the 22-year-old.

Foster has already been sent home and disciplined after arriving late for the pre-match meal when the U's were preparing for their big, televised Bank Holiday battle at Stevenage.

Asked after Tuesday's 0-0 draw at Grays why Foster wasn't involved in United's squad at the moment, Smith replied: "Fozzie has been disappointing in his attitude, which has affected why he's not involved.

"Lifestyle is very important for a footballer and he maybe needs to look at changing his."
