CURTIS Nelson is a fitness concern for Oxford United’s trip to Milton Keynes Dons on Saturday.
The skipper suffered a jarred knee and twisted ankle during the 1-1 draw against Shrewsbury last weekend and missed Tuesday’s 6-2 win at Stevenage.
Nelson, who has started 35 of United’s last 36 league games, has been sent for a scan on the knee problem.
But even before the results are known, assistant head coach Derek Fazackerley admitted there was a question mark over the 24-year-old’s involvement on Saturday.
He said: “The knee is the major concern.
“Hopefully it won’t be an injury that’s going to take too long.
“But there has to be a little bit of doubt about him for this weekend, because they felt it was severe enough to go for a scan just to check it out and make sure we were on top of it straight away.”
Mike Williamson was rested in midweek and is set to return at centre half.
But if Nelson is not ready to play at Stadium MK, Aaron Martin would be United’s remaining fit specialist centre half.
