DAN Crowley is reportedly set to join a club in the Netherlands on trial after the teenager's loan at Oxford United was ended six months early.

The forward was due to spend the whole campaign with the U's, but head coach Michael Appleton revealed last week they were in talks with parent club Arsenal about cutting the deal short following a "build-up of issues".

Dutch top-flight club Go Ahead Eagles reported last night the 19-year-old is joining on a trial.

Appleton said: "Good luck to him, maybe that's what he needs and if he progresses over there we'll be happy.

"We took a punt on him and it didn't quite work out, but it doesn't mean it's not going to work out elsewhere."

If a loan deal is arranged, he would not be able to play for them competitively until January.

Crowley made 11 appearances for United, starting five games and scoring three goals.
