OXFORD United will visit Portsmouth on the opening day of the season after the 2013/14 League Two fixtures were unveiled this morning.

And although Chris Wilder's side have been handed away games on the first and last days of the season for the fourth season in a row, they have finally landed a home clash on Boxing Day.

The U's will travel to relegated Pompey on Saturday, August 3 and are sure to open their campaign backed by a huge away following.

They end with a trip to Northampton Town on Saturday, May 3, but have the bonus of a clash with Plymouth Argyle at the Kassam Stadium on December 26.

United's first-ever visit to Newport County will be on New Year's Day, with other stand-out matches including Wycombe at home on August 24, a week after the U's have visited Torquay United.

Their first home match of the season is against Bury on August 10.

Interestingly, Wilder's side have no away midweek league matches until after Christmas.

The match with Portsmouth will see the sides meet for the first time since 1998 when the sides drew 2-2 at Fratton Park.

It also means an immediate reunion with striker Tom Craddock, who was released by United at the end of last season and signed a two-year deal with the south coast side, who are managed by Guy Whittingham, who had a brief loan spell with the U's.
