OXFORD United's recent near-misses have put them among the front-runners for Sky Bet League One promotion next season - but only just.
Sky Bet has the U's as joint-seventh favourites in the markets for winning the title, gaining promotion and finishing in the top six.
United reached the play-off semi-final last season and lost in the final the campaign before, but the odds perhaps show how tough League One will be in 2021/22.
Karl Robinson: Oxford United need bigger budget to compete next season
Perennial favourites Sunderland lead the way in all three markets, with newly-relegated Sheffield Wednesday just behind - despite the Hillsbrough outfit's financial woes.
Charlton Athletic and Ipswich Town are joint-third favourites, while Rotherham United are equal-fifth with Portsmouth as they look to make an immediate return to the second tier.
Only then come United, who join newly-promoted Bolton Wanderers and play-off finalists Lincoln City at 14/1 to win League One.
The three sides are all 9/2 to gain promotion and 9/4 to finish in the top six.
Odds to win League One next season, according to Sky Bet:
- Sunderland (4th in League One last season): 7/1
- Sheffield Wednesday (24th in the Championship): 8/1
- Charlton Athletic (7th in League One): 9/1
- Ipswich Town (9th in League One): 9/1
- Portsmouth (8th in League One): 12/1
- Rotherham United (23rd in the Championship): 12/1
