KEMAR Roofe has been named Sky Bet League Two's player of the year at the Football League Awards.

The Oxford United forward pipped Bristol Rovers' Matty Taylor and Ricky Holmes, from champions Northampton Town in the vote.

After receiving the trophy, he said: "I'm happy to be acknowledged, but I have to put it down to everyone at Oxford United for helping me achieve this."

Roofe was also included in the Football League team of the year, but missed out on a hat-trick in the goal of the year crown.

His spectacular effort against Brentford in August made the five-goal shortlist, but lost out to Sheffield Wednesday's Marco Matias.

Oxford United were also winners, as they were named League Two's family club of the year award, while Fulham topped the overall category.
